Customer Service Is Fundamental
Vince Lombardi was the never to be forgotten coach of the Green Bay Packers when the NFL was just beginning . In the last few years of Lombardi's career teams game plans where starting to be created with the use of computers to determine the tendencies of their opponents and video tape to identify shortcomings. A reporter asked Lombardi what he thought of all the technology becoming so much a part of football. Lombardi said it was all good and it would find its appropriate place, "but one thing will never change about the game of football. The team that blocks and tackles the best will win the game. The fundamentals will never change and they will always decide the winner."
Business is no different! Marketing research, marketing plans, sales strategies, loyalty programs and branding are of import and have their place, but one thing that will never change is: The company that both values and takes care of its costumers, will be successful. Exceptional
customer service is essential in a successful business!
Common Sense Customer Service
Good customer service is about valuing and appreciating customers and seeing that customer needs are met. Oftentimes we over complicate and over think it. But in the end, it is simply about treating others the way we want to be treated ourselves.
In its most basic state, customer care is about simple things like:
Answering the telephone and returning phone calls. Thinking before you promise, and making certain you can deliver what you say. Listen carefully and attentively to concerns and problems. Being helpful because it is the appropriate thing to do, even if there is no immediate profit to be made. Follow up, follow up, follow up.
Apply Basic Customer Principles Consistently
By applying these basic principles, your business will grow to be known for its
customer service. And the best part? The irony of good customer service is that over time it will bring in more new customers than promotions, rewards and lower prices ever did!
